We choose to use eco-friendly materials in our beds and toys wherever we can—We use stuffing made from recycled bottles for most of our beds, and organic cotton or linen for our covers. By relying on environmentally friendly materials, we help keep waste out of landfills, chemicals out of soil and water, and toxins out of toys. None of this can be good for the environment or your beloved companions.
If you are an animal lover, care about what goes on your body or are concerned with the welfare of others, take note: wearing organic fabrics has a major positive impact on your health and the health of our planet.
What makes organic materials, like cotton, so much better than the conventional ones? Organic cotton is grown in a way that uses methods and materials that lessen the impact on our environment. A big effort in the organic movement is to use growing systems that replenish and maintain soil fertility and build biologically diverse agriculture. Organic cotton uses far less water too.
The main benefit of organic materials, however, is that the crops aren’t treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and Genetically Modified Organisms. These toxins are harmful for farmers and workers, us as consumers, and entire wildlife eco-systems.
And yet, less than one percent of all cotton grown is organic. We can and must do better.
Recycled PET Plastic Bottles Stuffing and Fabric
Our Bed inserts are made completely from recycled plastic. We use 100% to stuff most of our beds because it creates a luxurious, resilient batting that supports pets night after night (and nap after nap). Our flat beds and many of our toys benefit from it
But this fibre isn’t just for stuffing—we also use its strong, recycled fibers to weave the soft plush fabric of our Velluto beds . They look and feel like luxurious suede
PET fibre washes completely clean, so you don’t have to worry about lingering pet odours, and it’s completely non-toxic and third-party certified safe. To date, for every 1kg of fibre used, we save around 70 water bottles from ending up in landfill. Our Recycled PET fibre is also 100% non-allergenic.
